♦ High School Baseball Showcase back at Busch for third year (St. Louis Post Dispatch)

The High School Baseball Showcase, presented by PNC Bank and Rawlings, will be back at Busch Stadium for the third straight year.

The game, which will be held on June 18, features 50 area seniors — 25 from Missouri and 25 from Illinois — and is scheduled for a 1:15 p.m. start. There will also be a home run derby/skills competition beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of the game. Admission to the skills competition and game is free.

Several Mizzou recruits will be playing in this game on the Missouri squad:

• Griff Goodrich (Kirkwood)
• Gerrion Grim (Fort Zumwalt South)
• Peter Fairbanks (Webster Groves)
• Sean Ullrich (Marquette)

♦ For his efforts during a stellar senior season, Coronado shorstop Paxton De La Garza was named the District 2-5A player of the year by the district’s coaches.(Lubbock Online)
